Amazing how time flies!
Many things have happened over the past couple of years. Covid-19 hit in early 2020. Bringing the world to a stand still. Countries shut down boarders. Locking people in that wanted out, and people out that wanted in. A large number of people started to get sick. People within weeks started to work from home. The streets were pretty bare. I continued to go into the office. The lab folks had to go in, and I didn’t want them to feel that they were all alone, abandoned.
My ex-wife moved to Wisconsin, abandoning her son. She moved there to be closer to her new boyfriend that had just been released from prison. I hope she find peace in her heart. As I know from what I saw in our 15 years of marriage, and the 6 years since. She is a very spiteful person, who only cares about herself. She never wanted another persons option to taint what she wanted to do. It has always been about her.
Hayden graduated from High School in June 2021. He was so excited to finish school. Now that Fall is coming fast….and schools started. He felt odd that he wasn’t going back to school. He has chosen to work a higher paying job for a year, before heading off to school to be a diesel mechanic. He is enjoying his time off.
Work is staring to be a little more stressful. My employer has decided that they are going to look into possibly outsourcing my teams jobs. They seem to think that you can fix everything remotely vs being being onsite for IT support. I don’t think they will be that stupid, but a big company can do pretty stupid things.
Lets try to fix this diabetes thing again…
My A1c creeped up 2 years ago. Nothing like my levels 5 years ago. But 50% higher than I had dropped them at one point. During Covid, I dropped it down 15% and visited a Diabetic Educator again. She told me to be proud that I had dropped over a full point during this time. She said most people’s A1c’s had gone up a lot, so mine going down was a great. She started me on some new medication for my diabetes, a simple one shot a week. I’m excited, it is helping me get off of one of my drugs that would eventually kill my pancreas, so this is a good change. It is also helping me lose some weight. So far I’m down a little over 15 pounds, since starting it 45 days ago. I’ve also been wearing a Libre sensor, for the geek in me it has been a game changer. I’m able to see my blood sugar levels as a graph. Everything can be viewed on a website as well, showing me my weeks, days, trends, etc.
So instead of doing a finger prick and seeing what my level is at that exact time. The sensor records the data to my phone, so I am able to see my levels throughout the day, it has been amazing. Showing me what is happening and when, I can see how different foods change my blood levels. Also based on my levels and what direction they are going, I can make better choices on what to have for my next meal.
